Kossuth Lajos Square

In the 19th century, this immense square used to be even bigger than today, covering 9 acres. It is the site where the once famous Gyula Fairs used to be held. Right behind the roundabout, a water fountain welcomes visitors arriving in Gyula by car. The square also features a huge cascade fountain. Another impressive detail is a mosaic of the anamorphosis of Albert Dürer’s Adam and Eve, which was created from 290,000 tiny pieces of mosaic tiles on the pavement. The original image of the painting is reflected on a shiny metal column.
